At the beginning of the year of the dog

Take me
to a far country
up the great river
into the ancient places

Take me
to a strong people
that I may learn the art
of survival

Teach me
to travel without luggage
so that I may learn a language
that lives for five thousand years
and still can be heard

Ah, this touches me!
In 1964 I had a chance to be part
of a team of students taking three months on a raft trip down the Yangzee River with National Geographics. We would take nothing
with us and be paid nothing but passage and food. Turns out I was too tall!

Who knows how my life might have changed with this experience.

I think this is just wonderful Fran. There is so much we can learn from these people.

A wonderful poem, Fran. It would behoove us all to ...travel without baggage and to see that those who are different are actually not so different at all. They are unique as I'm sure we are to them, but different...No. We are all travelers in time.

Ah Faucon...If its not one thing or another....
Being too tall.....
Being too short....
As I say no one is perfect...
